At Yelp, we connect people with great local businesses. We are a diverse team of problem solvers, innovators, and creators. We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Physical Security Representative to join our team and help ensure the safety and security of our employees, visitors, and assets.

The Global Security Specialist will be responsible for overseeing security at events, remotely monitoring security events using our Everbridge tool, and maintaining physical security at our building when applicable. This role requires a proactive approach to security management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond swiftly and effectively to security incidents.

We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes. This is a full-time remote role based in the United States.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and implement event-specific security plans, including crowd control, emergency response, and incident management.
  • Liaise with event organizers, local law enforcement, and emergency services as needed.

Remote Security Monitoring:

  • Utilize the Everbridge tool to remotely monitor security events and incidents across multiple locations.
  • Respond to security alerts and incidents in real-time, coordinating with on-site security personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records of security incidents and actions taken, providing detailed reports to management.

Physical Security Management:

  • Conduct regular security audits and risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with building management and external security vendors to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures.

General Duties:

  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and training programs for employees.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging security threats, recommending improvements to existing security measures.
  • Provide support and guidance to employees on security-related matters.

What it takes to succeed:

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in safety and security management, preferably in a corporate or law enforcement environment.
  • You are comfortable with regular travel to Yelp-hosted events throughout the Western US.
  • You possess a strong knowledge of security monitoring systems, access control, notification systems, and surveillance technologies.
  • You have experience with event security planning and management.
  • You hold a First Aid/CPR certificate.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You have the ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • You have the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You ideally have relevant certifications in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP).

What you'll get:

  • Effective your first day: Full medical, vision, and dental
  • 15 days PTO (accrual begins on date of hire and increases with 2+ years of tenure thereafter), 12 paid holidays, plus one floating holiday
  • Up to 14 weeks of parental leave
  • Monthly wellness subsidy
  • Work from home reimbursement
  • Flexible spending account
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Employee stock purchase plan
