Summary

Yelp’s mission is to connect people with great local businesses. As a trusted source of information on local business, millions of people turn to Yelp every day to make decisions about where to spend their money—from where to eat, shop, or stay, to which home or local service provider to use, and beyond.

Yelp’s Growth Marketing team is dedicated to driving user acquisition, activation, and long-term engagement across the full consumer lifecycle. As Head of Growth Marketing, you will shape the strategy and hands-on execution for our next phase of scalable, predictable growth. You will lead a team that thrives on experimentation, rigorous analytics, and relentless customer focus.

We are especially interested in candidates who bring direct experience with AI-driven marketing or who demonstrate a deep curiosity and enthusiasm for leveraging AI and emerging technologies to advance our product marketing objectives.

We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes. This is a full-time remote role based in the United States.

What you'll do:

  • Shape and Lead Growth Strategy:
    • Own and execute a comprehensive growth marketing strategy that supports multiple business objectives, including traffic, activation, engagement, retention, and contributions.
    • Act as a team lead by thoughtfully delegating and empowering team members with clear direction, goals, and accountability.
    • Develop and coordinate multi-channel programs to generate high-quality traffic and efficiently grow the top of the funnel across all key verticals, including Services.
  • Optimize User Onboarding & Activation:
    • Partner with Product and Biz Ops to analyze, refine, and optimize all aspects of the onboarding and activation funnel.
    • Identify and address friction points, and deliver innovative in-product experiences that improve new user retention and help users reach their “aha” moments faster.
  • Drive Engagement, Cross-selling, & Churn Prevention:
    • Design and iterate on lifecycle programs such as email, push, and in-product messages that deepen engagement throughout the user journey.
    • Create strategies to increase cross-selling and reduce churn.
    • Lead the development of proactive campaigns for retention and reacquisition, using data and customer insights.
  • Accelerate and Recognize User Contributions:
    • Develop strategies and rapid experiments focused on increasing consumer contributions and reviews.
    • Leverage both marketing and product channels to optimize participation and the overall value delivered to the platform.
  • Cultivate a Culture of Experimentation:
    • Foster a test-and-learn mindset within the team. Lead the development, execution, and ongoing optimization of growth experiments and campaigns using A/B testing, segmentation, and analytics.
    • Encourage quick iteration and learning across channels including push, email, in-product, paid, and organic.
  • Measure, Analyze, and Optimize Performance:
    • Own and drive the growth marketing measurement and analytics framework.
    • Collaborate with Growth Science and Operations teams to track, analyze, and act on results.
    • Regularly monitor, forecast, and report performance against targets to stakeholders.
    • Clearly communicate progress, risks, and recommendations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with teams across Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Community, and Biz Ops.
    • Synthesize insights from these partners to drive impact.
    • Provide transparent and clear communication on priorities, results, and learnings to stakeholders at every level.
  • Innovate and Integrate AI:
    • Proactively incorporate AI and automation to enhance growth strategies, improve campaign execution, drive personalization, and boost creative output.
    • Stay current on channel trends and technology that improve efficiency and results.
  • Mentor and Develop Teams:
    • Guide and support team members in developing world-class growth marketing capabilities.
    • Foster a high-performance, innovative culture focused on continuous learning and operational excellence.

What it takes to succeed:

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience leading full-funnel growth marketing initiatives, including traffic generation, onboarding and activation, engagement, retention, and user contributions, in fast-paced, data-driven environments.
  • Skilled at mentoring and growing high-performing, independent teams with a strong culture of experimentation and learning.
  • Strong expertise in creating, executing, and optimizing multi-channel marketing strategies across acquisition, lifecycle, and in-product touchpoints.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn insights and analytics into clear, actionable marketing strategies that directly impact business performance.
  • Proven skill in using AI, experimentation frameworks, and advanced analytics to enhance campaign effectiveness and drive innovation.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills with the ability to connect data analysis to real-world marketing decisions.
  • Excellent leadership and collaboration abilities when working with cross-functional partners to achieve alignment and results.
  • Proactive communicator who can deliver clear updates on campaign progress, risks, and strategic recommendations to all stakeholders, including executive leadership.
  • Track record of continuously improving marketing processes, messaging, and programs while managing forecasts and performance.
  • Deep curiosity about evolving customer needs, market trends, and new growth technologies and channels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, or related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred, but not mandatory.

What you'll get:
