Summary

Yelp’s mission is to connect people with great local businesses, and our social media channels are a vital part of how we inspire discovery, build community, and tell compelling stories at scale. As the Social Media Strategist specializing in video, you’ll own and execute the strategy for Yelp’s content across platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and on emerging channels. We’re seeking a creative, analytical marketer who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about leveraging video to ignite engagement and drive results.

We’d love to have you apply, even if you don’t feel you meet every single requirement in this posting. At Yelp, we’re looking for great people, not just those who simply check off all the boxes. This is a full-time remote role based in the United States.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, implement, and continuously refine video content strategies aligned with Yelp’s overarching social media and brand goals in partnership with the Head of Social Media.
  • Manage the content calendar: plan, schedule, and coordinate regular uploads and campaigns that spotlight local businesses, Yelp experiences, and brand initiatives across multiple platforms.
  • Ideate and create engaging video storylines/briefs: partner closely with content, creative, and production teams to bring compelling stories to life.
  • Source and curate user-generated content, influencer partnerships, and community spotlights to expand content variety and authenticity.
  • Optimize video elements (captions, hashtags, covers, descriptions) for discoverability, platform algorithms, and maximum viewer retention.
  • Collaborate with analytics teams to set, track, and report on KPIs (views, engagement, follower growth, shares, etc.) and proactively refine strategy based on insights.
  • Stay ahead of social video trends, platform updates, and content best practices—testing new formats and creative approaches for impact.
  • Engage with the social community: respond to comments and foster authentic conversations to build loyalty and community.
  • Ensure all content is brand-aligned and compliant with legal and copyright guidelines.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (social, creative, PR, community, product) to integrate short-form initiatives with campaign launches and company priorities.
  • Serve as a resource for broader social media planning, providing support, expertise, and content guidance to help drive growth and engagement.
  • Work with the Creative team to establish and maintain Yelp’s overarching social tone and voice.

What it takes to succeed:

  • 5+ years managing social media platforms, preferably YouTube, for a consumer brand, media company, or creator-led business, with a proven track record of driving growth and executing successful video-first campaigns.
  • Deep knowledge of social video best practices, algorithms, trends, and audience development.
  • Experience developing creative briefs, storyboarding, and collaborating with creative or production teams from concept to final cut.
  • Strong understanding of video optimization techniques for discoverability and engagement (platform-specific SEO, hashtags, trending audio, etc.).
  • Skilled at analyzing social performance data, distilling insights, and making strategic recommendations.
  • Up-to-date on platform policies, emerging content formats, and audience engagement tactics across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and similar channels.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills; able to coordinate cross-functional partners, advocate for social strategy, and deliver campaigns on time.
  • High attention to detail, a results-driven mindset, and adaptability with creative problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Passion for digital storytelling, community building, and Yelp’s mission to support local discovery.

What you'll get:

  • Effective your first day: Full medical, vision, and dental
  • 15 days PTO (accrual begins on date of hire and increases with 2+ years of tenure thereafter), 12 paid holidays, plus one floating holiday
  • Up to 14 weeks of parental leave
  • Monthly wellness subsidy
  • Work from home reimbursement
  • Flexible spending account
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan
  • Employee stock purchase plan
  • Compensation range for this position is $92,000 - $156,000 annually. You may also be offered a bonus and benefits.
